Ben Affleck’s Batman costume may be taking its look from the comics

Last week it was reported that Ben Affleck’s Batmobile in the upcoming Man Of Steel sequel “Batman vs. Superman” is currently being designed by General Motors over at the GM Advanced Design Studio in North Hollywood.

But now, the site Comic Book Movie claims to have some new details about the Batmobile’s newest iteration:

According to my source, who I will refer to as, “General Napier,” General Motors IS working on the Batmobile designs, but I was also told that production designer Nathan Crowley, and engineers Chris Culvert and Andy Smith, have been consulting on the designs.

All three of those names listed above previously worked on “The Tumbler,” “Bat-Pod,” and “The Bat” for Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy.

But the biggest part of their reveal is the bit they claim to have gotten on Batman’s Cowl. 

My source tells me that current cowl designs resemble the Caped Crusader’s look in Batman: Noel. Which is a 2011 graphic novel written and illustrated by Lee Bermejo, based on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. They also explored concepts that looked like Injustice: Gods Among Us designs, but ultimately passed on those because they were too similar to Nolan’s costume.

The cowl from Batman: Noel is pictured above. Lee Bermejo has used this same design for Batman for close to a decade, and easily one of the most grounded looks that Batman sees in the comics. Given the image above, and its already close resemblance to Ben Affleck’s chin, it makes no surprise that the upcoming Batman would see a similar look. I’m just bummed out that if they are going with 100% of that cowl, we once again wont see a Batman with lenses.
