Recently while Speaking to Zap2It, Director Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) not only revealed that the film is still currently very much alive, but they plan to begin filming this next year.

“I think very early next year. That’s the plan, it’s going to honor the mythology of the game, but I would say honor some of the most interesting stuff from the first one and build from there. There’s some stuff that isn’t in the game.”

Previously actor Mark Wahlberg was tapped to play Nathan Drake in the films adaptation but when the film fell through he moved on to different projects. When asked about who they plan to cast as the title character now, the directer responded with:

“I want it to be a great actor, That’s number one, and then if it’s someone who has an actual jaw, that’s even better. The game is so well done that you need it to live up to that. There’s no way we’d do the inverse of that where it’s somebody famous who can’t [act].”

While many are still worried that the director may treat the film as more of a comedy rather than an action film due to his film history, at least he is looking for someone who can deliver an actual performance instead of just someone who looks the part.
